Laptop Case

I made this envelope style laptop case using scrap fabrics I got from my dad’s shoe shop. It was very simple and I think you can make one even without a sewing machine (I guess..). The back stitch could work on the sides and the blanket stitch on the edges.

I love the rose printed fabric and the combination of black and red. I put a rose fabric on the middle to add more sophistication. Isn’t it pretty? I soooo love it!  I’ll definitely make more of this—wallet, purse, and handbags!

Here’s how,

I used 3 kinds of fabric—the (1)rose print, (3)plain black for lining, and (2)pelon cloth on the middle to hold the fabric and make it firm. The size of each cloth is 42x42 cm (red lines) with 1cm allowance. This size is good for a notebook laptop. The second image shows how you should place the fabric together. (“w” means wrong surface, “r”means right surface).

Stitch through the sides leaving a space on the corner where you can reverse the fabric to show the right surface.

Fold the fabric but do not stitch through it yet. Just mark it.
(1) Red lines measure 21 cm
(2) 5cm
(3) This is the mark where you place the snap, about 8cm from below.
(4) This is for the upper snap, about 4cm.
(5) Secure the snap.
(6) Mark all the folding before stitching the edges.

How to make the rose:
You'll need satin fabric about 35cm in length.

Use hidden hand stitch to attach the rose..

and there you go.. easy, right?

  2. I would like to try that, too. But sadly, I'm a very impatient crafter. Haha!
